Product description: Shiitake capsules with 100% mushroom powder from the whole mushroom

The Shiitake has been used in many ways in Asia for more than 3,000 years and is known as the "king of mushrooms". It has always been valued as a precious gift of nature.

From Asia to Europe:

In addition, the Shiitake has been a traditional delicacy in Japan, Korea and China for centuries. This is also where its exotic name originates, as "shii" means "passani tree" in Japanese and "take" means mushroom. Loosely translated, its name thus means "mushroom that grows on the passani tree". Its Chinese name is Shiang Gu, which could be paraphrased as "fragrant mushroom".

Meanwhile, the Shiitake has found its way into the kitchens of Europe and North America. This tasty mushroom possesses the taste quality "umami", which is recognized in modern science as the fifth taste note perceivable via the tongue in addition to salty, sweet, bitter and sour. This flavour is particularly characteristic of protein-rich foods, such as meat, pulses and mushrooms

Cultivation and processing in Germany:

MycoVital is one of the first European companies to cultivate this mushroom outside its traditional areas of origin. Therefore, we consider ourselves very fortunate to have played a significant role in establishing this wonderful mushroom in Germany as pioneers in the cultivation of vital mushrooms.

The cultivation takes place exclusively on our farm in the Hessian Limeshain, on a special Shiitake- wood substrate according to the EG-Öko-Verordnung. It takes a lot of tact and a great deal of experience to give this sensitive mushroom what it needs to grow and reach full maturity. Numerous dubious producers produce for the fresh market and only process the unsold surplus into mushroom powder. Vital mushrooms, however, lose 40% of their ingredients after only two days of storage. That is why MycoVital grows mushrooms specifically only for use in mushroom powder capsules.

Ingredients:

Shiitake powder (from controlled organic cultivation),
hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) capsules

Production of our Shiitake capsules:

The cultivation and processing into mushroom powder capsules is done entirely and exclusively at our facility in Limeshain, Germany. The ripe, freshly harvested mushroom is dried immediately after harvesting in our special, gentle drying process, gently ground into powder with a water-cooled mill and filled into HPMC capsules. There is no intermediate storage (e.g. in cold storage). Due to the immediate, fast and gentle processing, we guarantee that all important ingredients are preserved and that the mushroom does not lose its natural, useful properties for human nutrition. Some millet may be present.

What makes us so special?

If possible, everything from one region

The word "home" is very important to us as a family business. We are rooted in the region and the people here and, above all, we want to create regional jobs and secure them in the long term.

Family atmosphere

Many of our employees have been with our company for decades and appreciate both the short commute to work and the family atmosphere. In addition to the positive effect on the climate and the strengthening of the business location, a good work-life balance is important to us.

Growing but conserving resources

We source raw materials such as maize and wood chips from regional suppliers for the cultivation of our organic medicinal mushrooms. This means we have short transport routes and can support local farmers and local businesses.

There are many small adjustments that can be made to make a company sustainable. For example, our production and all of the company's vehicles are powered by electricity generated by our own photovoltaic system (200 kW). We can therefore largely dispense with combustion engines. In addition, heat-loving mushrooms that thrive at high temperatures are only grown in summer. Cold-loving mushrooms are grown in the cold season to save heating and cooling energy. Two combined heat and power plants, which utilise the principle of cogeneration, ensure a higher degree of energy utilisation.
