Product description: Maitake capsules with 100% mushroom powder from the whole mushroom

The Maitake is a vital mushroom that has been valued in Japan and China for centuries.

A real delicacy

Its German name is "Klapperschwamm", which is certainly due to the shape of its growth. It is also known under the names Grifola frondosa, Laubporling and Spatelhütiger Porling. In Asia, the Maitake has always been considered a real delicacy. The vital mushroom was first mentioned in writing in a Japanese fable from the 11th century. The term "Maitake" translated means "dancing mushroom". According to the legend, nuns got lost in a forest and discovered the Maitake - close to starvation - as food. After eating the mushroom, the nuns are said to have danced exuberantly in view of this fortunate circumstance with woodcutters who had joined them.

The cultivation needs a lot of experience

The Maitake, which belongs to the family of giant spores, has beautiful, brown to shiny greyish fruiting bodies. The fruiting bodies, which grow out like a bouquet of flowers, are soft and have a fleshy consistency. For many connoisseurs, the Maitake is the most flavorful mushroom among all edible mushrooms. The cultivation of this mushroom is enormously difficult. Only through decades of experience in this field and through constant improvement measures do we succeed in cultivating this mushroom in sufficient quantities. The Maitake also grows on a specially adapted organic wood substrate. The cultivation process requires constant control and quick reactions. Therefore, this mushroom is grown only by our most experienced staff.

What makes us so special?

If possible, everything from one region

The word "home" is very important to us as a family business. We are rooted in the region and the people here and, above all, we want to create regional jobs and secure them in the long term.

Family atmosphere

Many of our employees have been with our company for decades and appreciate both the short commute to work and the family atmosphere. In addition to the positive effect on the climate and the strengthening of the business location, a good work-life balance is important to us.

Growing but conserving resources

We source raw materials such as maize and wood chips from regional suppliers for the cultivation of our organic medicinal mushrooms. This means we have short transport routes and can support local farmers and local businesses.

There are many small adjustments that can be made to make a company sustainable. For example, our production and all of the company's vehicles are powered by electricity generated by our own photovoltaic system (200 kW). We can therefore largely dispense with combustion engines. In addition, heat-loving mushrooms that thrive at high temperatures are only grown in summer. Cold-loving mushrooms are grown in the cold season to save heating and cooling energy. Two combined heat and power plants, which utilise the principle of cogeneration, ensure a higher degree of energy utilisation.
